Shift swapping is when one employee submits a suggested shift reassignment for one of their current shifts. Here’s the simple process:

  • Pull up your shifts in Slack: From the "Menu" select "Timesheet actions". You will see an option to view “Shifts”. Clicking will populate a list of your own upcoming shifts.

  • Each shifts will include a button “reassign” to initiate the cancel/swap/reassignment workflow.

  • After choosing to “reassign” a specific shift, a form will pop up requiring you to submit a reason for reassignment. This reason will ultimately be sent to your manager for review.

  • The final step is selecting a suggested teammate to re-assign your shift. You’ll be provided with a drop-down of team members eligible to be assigned your shift - this drop down automatically filters for any shift requirements like location or role.

  • Upon submission, the request will be sent to your manager for approval. Your manager will have the option to deny, approve, or approve and assign it to someone else.
  • If the shift re-assignment gets approved, you will be notified that your shift has been deleted.
  • If you or your manager choose to assign the shift to a colleague that is not a direct report, the approval/denial process will be forwarded to the direct manager of the new assignee.

Note: Shift reassignment can be turned off if admins don't want employees requesting reassignment themselves. Please contact support to disable this setting.
