Sometimes managers may be away or unavailable to review leave requests. In such cases, AttendanceBot lets you

  1. In Slack, type:

    change delegate @username

Then, when prompted, type the username of the new delegate manager:

    @newmanager

✅ This will give the selected user temporary approval access — including yourself, if needed.

Viewing Pending Leave Requests

Once a delegate is set up, they can see and act on pending requests.

  • Type:

    pending

This will display all leave requests waiting for approval.

  • The delegate manager will see the pending requests assigned to them and can approve or reject as needed.

Removing Delegate Permissions

When the delegate period ends, you can remove their access easily:

  1. In Slack, type:

    change delegate @username

    Then, when prompted, type:

    NA

✅ This ensures that new approval requests are routed back to the original manager, while still allowing them to approve on behalf of the manager if required.

Quick Recap

  • Use change delegate @username → @newmanager to assign a delegate.

  • Use pending to view and act on requests.

  • Use change delegate @username → NA to remove delegation.
